Governance and Anti-Corruption Team
The Governance and Anti-Corruption Team at Verité Research seeks to build knowledge and research that can provide nuanced guidance to building sectoral and general anti-corruption and governance solutions locally and internationally, tracking developments, and responding with agility.
Job Description
We are seeking to hire a Research Analyst to join our Governance and Anti-Corruption research team (within the Law and Governance pillar). We are looking for like-minded candidates aligned with our core values and purpose, capable of original and innovative thinking, and willing to take a proactive role in different areas of our organization.
In this role, you will be expected to:
- Conduct research on corruption and governance, including - law, policy, governance, new developments and best practices in the public and private sector.
- Interpret and present data analysis surrounding potential anti-corruption approaches and design cutting-edge anti-corruption strategies to address these.
- Use research communications such as written reports, presentations, meetings, and events to carry out research-underpinned advocacy and engagement on governance.
- Build and manage a team of researchers and research processes to successfully deliver results through their engagement.
- Build and update a knowledge base on governance and anti-corruption, in theory and practice.
- Engage and support in law and policy-making efforts
- Engage in proposal-writing, and build demand for the outputs of the Research and Advisory Practices and other products and services of the organisation.
- Represent the organisation and build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to gather insights, share findings, and ensure research aligns with organisational values and objectives
- Work collaboratively with the Law & Governance pillar, and other research divisions within the organization.
Qualifications :
Candidates are required to meet the following set of qualifications to be considered for this position:
Education:
First Class or Second Upper-Class degree in social sciences or law. A Master’s in law, governance, social sciences, or equivalent work experience would be an added advantage.
Work experience:
Minimum of two years’ work experience in the fields of social sciences, law, policy analysis, academic research, governance or advocacy
Skills:
- Good knowledge of governance and anti-corruption
- Critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity to evaluate complex research-related issues objectively
- Public speaking skills and the ability to plan and execute advocacy campaigns
- Ability to work independently but collaboratively in delivering outputs
- Exceptional writing skills in English, ability to read and analyze content in Sinhala and/or Tamil;
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver on time
Language Proficiency
- Full professional proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.
- Professional working proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Sinhala and/or Tamil.
Network:
An established network of professional contacts in the fields of governance and anti-corruption. This is not mandatory but will be an added advantage
